Flexible pre-panelised build is ideal for construction site with limited access.

Brief

Four town houses were to be built in the centre of York. The site had previously been home to a Scout Hut and was located next to a historic Roman wall with very limited access to the site. The build itself was challenging due to the complex design and restricted access with limited manoeuvrability onsite.

Solution

Panel sizes were meticulously calculated, building techniques thoroughly researched, and every step of the build carefully planned to ensure access to the site and construction on the enclosed building plot would run smoothly. The size and weight of the pre-panelised frames meant that they could be easily transported from LGSF to the site.

LGSF produced lightweight panels, minimising the weight on the foundations whilst still providing the strength needed to support the buildings.

Results

  • Buildability of LGSF panels meant construction ran smoothly and to plan
  • Flexible build for complex site location
  • The panelised build enabled panel offloading and installation on the restricted site
  • Houses were built with minimal disruption to the surrounding area
