As young people start thinking about their next steps, whether that’s continuing in full-time education, entering the workplace, or starting an apprenticeship, we caught up with Erin Wray, our Apprentice Draughtsperson, who joined us in July, to hear about her experience and any advice she has for others facing these important decisions.
Erin stood out during our week-long selection programme and is now undertaking an Engineering Design Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship. She works alongside our experienced team on live customer projects and receives ongoing support from T3 Training & Development throughout her learning journey.
“One thing that I struggled with the most was the change between school and work where I went from being surrounded by people my age to a whole host of ages. Although this was difficult at first, I found very quickly that everyone working at LGSF was kind and supportive.
“The supportive atmosphere and encouragement from everyone made it easy to ask questions and learn quickly.
“Thanks to the guidance of my mentor, Sam, and the rest of the draughting team, my understanding of CAD has grown significantly. This progress has enabled me to complete several projects on my own something I didn’t expect to achieve at this stage.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work in an environment where learning is constant and LGSF has gone above and beyond to support my learning for both my development and the benefit of the company.”
