Brief

The Modular Plantrooms team was asked to travel to Cyprus to support a valued client with maintenance access challenges on an existing mechanical and electrical installation within a data storage facility. 

Our client required a solution for an 8-module plantroom, originally fabricated by the MPR team, which had been installed on-site in Cyprus. During the inspection and commissioning phases, it was identified that additional, safe access points were necessary to carry out routine maintenance on valves and control boxes. Standard access equipment was deemed inadequate, presenting safety concerns for maintenance teams operating within the plant room.

Solution

Our team conducted a comprehensive site survey to assess the specific requirements. This survey informed a custom solution comprising: 

• Bespoke access platforms and gantries: Designed to provide secure, elevated access to key components.

• CAT ladders: Installed to ensure safe vertical movement within the plantroom, providing comprehensive access to all maintenance areas.

• Custom design and manufacturing: Our in-house design team developed tailored solutions that met the client’s exact specifications. The platforms and ladders were then fabricated in our UK manufacturing units.

 To expedite delivery and minimise downtime, all access components were transported to Cyprus via road and sea freight. Once on-site, our engineers efficiently installed the platforms, gantries, and CAT ladders, ensuring all installations met local safety regulations and facilitated seamless, safe maintenance operations.

Results

The project successfully provided our client with a safe, custom access solution that ensured maintenance could be performed efficiently and securely. The client was pleased with the timely and high-quality installation, which avoided additional project delays.
