Baysgarth Secondary School in Barton-upon-Humber required a robust and efficient extension to accommodate its growing needs. The project demanded a durable framework that would support the school’s expansion while ensuring minimal disruption to the existing infrastructure.
Modular Plantrooms provided a custom-engineered beam and column framework tailored to the project’s requirements. This structural framework was designed to support the necessary loadings required and support the concrete planks installed by the contractor, forming each floor level for the internal fit-out of walls and floors.
To ensure safe and easy access for maintenance, the solution also included two specialised staircases:
Maintenance Access Staircase – Offering secure entry to the extended building roof level for routine maintenance
Up-and-Over Maintenance Staircase – Allowing access via a parapet to the existing building
The hot rolled steel framework delivered the necessary strength and stability for the extension. Prefabrication off-site allowed the framework to be delivered and erected quickly, ensuring a streamlined construction process. This efficient approach reduced on-site disruption and facilitated a rapid build, enabling the contractor to progress with internal work promptly.
